Despite winning the national title, Cluett's challenges didn't end there. She remained unemployed for seven months as she prepared for the international stage. Her commitments as Miss Universe Malta, including a tour and representing her country at the Miss Universe pageant in Thailand, made finding a job nearly impossible.
'No employer wants to hire someone who will be gone for weeks at a time,' Cluett explained. 'I had to sacrifice my career, my home, and my income to pursue this opportunity.'
Cluett, a mental health advocate, emphasized the weight of her decision. Despite the challenges, she had a remarkable run in Thailand, making it to the top 12 finalists and earning the title of Miss Universe Europe and Middle East.
'There were moments of doubt and uncertainty,' Cluett shared. 'I questioned how I would get through it all, but I knew I had to.'
Despite the difficulties, Cluett never considered giving up her national title. She reflected, 'I knew this was my one chance, my time to shine. I wasn't going to let it go.'
