Imagine stepping onto a bus and seamlessly paying for your fare without fumbling for cash or coins—this is now a reality for passengers using TFI Local Link Mayo! Thanks to the implementation of contactless payment options, riders can easily pay their fares with debit and credit cards, or through popular mobile wallets like Apple Pay and Google Pay.
The National Transport Authority (NTA) has proudly announced the successful launch of this innovative system. This exciting transition follows positive outcomes from initial trials conducted in Cavan and Monaghan, and it builds on the recent adoption of contactless payments in Tipperary, Laois, and Offaly.
With this new payment method, travelers can now conveniently settle single-journey fares. For those looking to purchase daily or weekly travel products, these will still be accessible via the Leap website or the TFI Leap Top-up App. Additionally, passengers have the option to continue using TFI Leap cards or cash to pay for their journeys, and Free Travel Cards remain valid across all eligible services.
To shed more light on this significant advancement for TFI Local Link Mayo users, I spoke with Sarah Togher, the General Manager, who expressed her enthusiasm for this change, emphasizing how much easier it will make travel for passengers.
